2010-07-04 Missing Tourist Bear Creek Park
5 CORD SAR responded to RCMP request to
search for an overdue hiker after an abandoned
vehicle was found near Bear Creek Provincial Park
in West Kelowna. After further investigation the
subject was located with friends at a nearby
campground.
2010-06-30 Vehicle Over Embankment
2 CORD SAR were responding to BCAS request to
assist with a vehicle reported to be down a 100 foot
embankment. When the ambulance crew arrived on
scene the vehicle was only 20 ft from the road and
easily accessible and the team was stood down.
2010-06-21 Injured Mountain Biker Gillard FSR
8 members of COSAR responded to assist BCAS
with an injured mountain biker on the Gillard FSR.
SAR members assisted BCAS with transporting the
subject out to the main road.
2010-06-12 Canoe Capsize West Kettel River
16 Grand Forks, 13 Penticton, 5 Oliver
Osoyoos, 8 Central Okanagan, 5 Nelson, and 6
South Columbia SAR members continued the
search for the male who went into the West Kettle
River in the Beaverdell area after his canoe
capsized. After thoroughly searching the river no
body was located and the search has been
suspended pending further RCMP request.
2010-06-07 Injured Mountian Biker Myra Canyon
8 COSAR members responded to rescue an injured
mountain biker on the Swampting Trail in Myra
Canyon. The subject was located and escorted out
of the area.
2010-06-06 Injured Male Over An Embankment In Myra Bellvue Park
6 COSAR and 7 Kelowna Fire Rescue members
responded to rescue an injured male over an
embankment in Myra Bellvue Park. The subject
turned down SAR assistance and was planning to
walk out of the area on his own.
2010-05-16 Missing Kyaker belived to be in Mission Creek
After the kyak was discovered at McCulloch Lake 11 COSAR members search with a
boat and an underwater camera for a missing
Kayaker at McCulloch Lake near Kelowna. After an
extensive search of the creek by RCMP divers
yielded no results, SAR was stood down.
2010-05-09 Injured Cyclist Gillard Forest Service Road.
7 COSAR members were called out to rescue an
injured cyclist near the Gillard Forest Service Road
in Kelowna. He was successfully rescued and
passed to BCAS who transported him to the
hospital.
2010-05-01 Missing Diabetic Man in the Crystal Mountain Area
22 Central Okanagan, Oliver and Penticton SAR
along with 5 PEP Air members responded to search
for a diabetic 71 year old, missing in the Crystal
Mountain area near Kelowna. The subject was
suffering from mild hypothermia when located and
was treated by BCAS personnel.
2010-04-18 Overdue ATV in the MacDougal Creek area
8 COSAR members responded to search for an
overdue quad rider in the MacDougal Creek area.
Subject had become stuck in snow and water and
remained sheltered in that location until he was
located by RCMP Air 3. He was transported out of
the area by RCMP and SAR was stood down.
