Central Okanagan Search & Rescue (COSAR) is a SAR team based in Kelowna, British Columbia. The team provides services to the Central Okanagan.

COSAR consists of approximately 40 professional volunteer members skilled in Search & Rescue operations in urban and wilderness settings.

COSAR's mission is to provide the following services:

  1. To provide Search & Rescue service for the Provincial Emergency Program (PEP), and the RCMP.
  2. To provide assistance to the Province of British Columbia, and it's governments (Provincial and Municipal) during Civil Emergencies.
  3. To provide Community Education
  4. To assist in Community Events

2008-03-22 Missing hiker Gallagher Canyon

8 Central Okanagan SAR members and 2 Amateur
Radio volunteers responded to search for a missing
hiker in the Gallagher Canyon area. The subject
was found alive and well and escorted out safely.

2008-03-20 Missing female McCulloch Lake

6 Kelowna SAR, 4 PEP Air and 2 Amateur Radio
members responded to search for a missing female
in the McCulloch Lake area near Kelowna. SAR
team was stood down pending further investigation.

2008-03-09 Standdown while mustering

2 members were stood down while mustering to search for a male in the
Peachland area. Subject was located in his vehicle by the RCMP who had an ambulance dispatched to check him out.

2008-03-01 Missing snowmobilers near greystokes

41 members from Central Okanagan SAR, North
Okanagan SAR, the Snowmobile Club and Radio
volunteers and 5 PEP Air responded to search for 2
missing snowmobilers near Greystokes. They were
located on 02 Mar in a creek bed on the back side of
Monroe Mountain and they were assisted out of the
area.

2008-01-27 Rescue a seriously injured snowmobiler

1 CORD SAR member and 5 Kelowna Fire Dept members responded to rescue a seriously injured
snowmobiler in Myra Canyon. SAR team was stooddown after the Fire Dept brought the snowmobiler out to waiting BCAS.

2008-01-27 missing 90 year old woman

2 Central Okanagan Regional District SAR were
stood down while mustering to search for a missing
90 yr old femalein Kelowna. RCMP located subject
in good health.

2008-01-27 McCulloch Lake Trails cardiac arrest

7 Central Okanagan Regional District SAR
members responded to rescue a male in cardiac
arrest on the McCulloch Lake Trails. SAR was stood
down while en route after the Fire Dept responded
and discovered the male was deceased.

2008-01-20 Search for 2 missing snowmobilers

12 CORD SAR, 5 PEP Air, 5 PERCS and 15 NORD
SAR members responded to search for 2 missing
snowmobilers between Greystoke and Big White.
The two were located in good condition and the
search was stood down.
